Roland's White PD-85/105 Mesh Heads v.s. Yamaha's All new, "DTX-PAD"

Like Roland on their V-drum white mesh heads, it seems like Yamaha has made white heads as well!
Though this time, I personally think it's allot more wwaayy better
than the Roland white mesh heads...

I dunnow why but...
My gut tells me so..=))

Roland white mesh heads aren't all that bad but IT being too bouncy, isn't just what any normal acoustic kit would feel like at all!
Lol...I think I gotta hand it to the DTX-PAD which isn't bouncy like those Roland white mesh heads..

The DTX900 is in the exact same price as the TD-12 but I'm actually considering on getting this one over the TD-12...:P

The DTX950 on the other hand, is in the same price with the TD-20...
Still, I'm gonna go with the DTX950 over the TD-20 on this one...xD
See for yourself...

Though I am on Yamaha's side, I've got 1 thing to ask about it that might let any1 down who plans on buying this DTX-PAD..
Question is...
...Does it feature "Positional Sensing" like the Roland Mesh Heads do?
Someone please tell me & Let the games begin!...xD

Positional sensing is not a function of the pad, but of the module. I.e. Td9's do not have positional sensing, no matter what pad you use with them....it is the brain of the td12/20 that senses the position. With the proper pads, of course.

I prefer Diamond pads.....

here is a thread about the dtx900, if you havent seen it: http://www.vdrums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55358

I did a quick search of the thread, and there was only one mention of positional sensing, and that was only to say that Yamaha doesnt mention it....but browse the thread to see if you find something I missed....

Why can't something just be "new", without being "all new"?

Does anyone ever believe it for car ads? An "all new" model has no parts anywhere that have ever been used before?

Almost as good as 'new and improved'.
What is it, then? New OR improved (not new...)!
With cars, it's never 'all new' as they carry over some parts, no matter what they say.
It's too costly to develop 'all new'.
And you wouldn't redevelop some things, anyway.

I think the silicone is "all new". I have never played a pad like this before and it is very different to play, although the internal parts may not be that different. At least they didn't just change the color of the old pad and increase the price.

The pd 125 does have pos sensitivity that I wish the Yamaha had. The Roland pad does have a good feel but it would be nice if they could have another zone for cross stick like the Yamaha.

another nice feature is being able to add the ocean way drum sounds onto the module itself and i see on the yamaha website up to 1 gig of sample ramm kits so that should be nice.

I've been looking at all the major retailers in my area (Chicago) and haven't been able to test drive these pads yet.

Most info points to April for mass consumption.

Since the DTX III module has IA or AX or XA whatever on their snare, I'm sure the DTX 900 will also have it on it's snare and hopefully on other pads as well. This is, I quote Yamaha's version of PS and Interval Control amongst other stuff that i can't remember. But it's only on their snare, their toms and cymbals are just the same old.

I'm still waiting to hear the answer on this as well, since no one really knows exactly what the DTX 900 module will offer other than the Yammy reps themselves.
