I really didn't mean to start a "let's slam another site" thread but man, I see that I'm not alone in waiting for the "makes vdrums's mods look nice" mods to do something simple like approve a membership request, or share some raised eyebrow moments at some of their practices.

I think I'll forget about drum chat.

I now return you to the regularly scheduled thread hijacking already underway.

Oi vey.

Drumchat *finally* approved me so I posted some things. Went to great lengths to not post links to here, or Digital Drummer mag, etc. Went thru the painful "go search like this" crap.

So, yesterday, somebody asks "what's the difference between a TD-9K and TD-9S". I made the "mistake" of linking to a thread here that says "ain't no difference".

They moderated and pulled it. Sent me a PM saying "no linkies to external sites".

I posted again with no link and it went immediately in.

Insane.

What's the rationale of no links to external sites?

Sounds like a control freak mentality to me. What's the purpose of the web without links?

It's no links to commerical sites or other forums, and no selling or trading in public(ok via email, obviously!). You can link jpgs from GC but not the ad, for instance. I linked to wiki and youtube all the time. I may not go back, as it has been taken over by a few idiots, and they are on 18 hours a day. Not the mgmt, just some real lame posters.

The whole "no links to other forums" bothers me to no end. It's stupid and very shortsighted of them. If they want to foster a community, they're going about it the wrong way.

Once again, the Oppressive Overlords here seem positively mild by comparison.

And what is the thought behind that? As Bruce said, the internet equals links. No links, no internet. There is so much information at so many places, do they want it all to be copied to their forum?

I decided to leave them alone when I replied to a question about John Bonham and Moby Dick ended up as Moby ****. I only hope the censoring was automated. If not... well, what a bunch of ****s.
