I would like total USB functionality for all aspects, including reading thumb drives and HDDs. Then VSTs on board, or at least samples (wav or whatever universal format is best, NOT proprietary)

Larger Color LCD screen (they're cheap now) with an easy program interface. More inputs than the current TD20.

+1 on the larger screen. 7" touch screen for nice interface while keeping the mechanical sliders. Speaking of sliders, individual sliders for each aux input and tom would be nice. In fact split sliders on all inputs for individual head/rim adjustment would be awesome. Especially useful when splitting them for extra pads.

Talking

Hmm... I'd like to see the TD-30 have a price tag lower than $6000. I know it'll never happen, but a man can dream, can't he?

The module, by itself, better be MUCH lower than that!

1. "Round robin" at a minimum.
2. Preferably on board VSTi support.
3. Balanced outputs
4. More than 1 mix-in.
5. USB
6. Storage and playback of MP3's

It has been explained to me that we are not likely tro see VST's in modules soon because the boot up time would be too long and the kit change time. I think we mainly need the overhead and direct mic samples . Reverb could take care of the room sound.

I would be happy if modelling got a bit closer to real drum sounds. I would always use VST's for recording and this would be for live use. I hope they put some decent high pitched toms in there. The SPD30 has some but no other module does. Also, the SPD30 percussion sounds are much better than most of the tdw20 /td20x. Some modules have OK snares but the percussion plays like 1980. One sample repeated over and over. These kits are expensive now and I think the technology is unacceptable .

True to that I was very impressed with the SPD30 per sounds... I found the same with regards to its comparison with the TD20 perc ones. Really hot sounds.

As to load time.... if the module itself has a nice processor... judging by the notebook I am using right now with 6GB RAM due core... a kit in S2 with 700MB does not take more than a minute to be fair... so not bad at all. I keep saying alll I need is a notebook with trigger inputs.

Pim
