    vh13 clutch

I would like to know if anyone has been able to get the bottom of the Roland clutch unscrewed from the shaft? (The triangle shaped bottom with the set screw in it.)

I can loosen the set screw and get the bottom to rotate slightly back and forth but I can't even get it to move a quarter turn.

My goal it to put a drop clutch on my vh-13.

Mmm not sure how showing me an add for a drop clutch is explaining to me how you got the bottom off of the Roland clutch? I don't currently have my bottom cymbal/hat on my Vh13 secured/attached to my HH stand and neither it nor the top hat rotate.

First answer: no, it doesn't come off - it's pinned in place.
Second answer: you can't run a drop clutch on Roland products for several reasons, as follows:
The Roland system uses a rocker to allow the top section to swing.
Roland's clutch sizes are not compatible with other manufacturers, so you can't add the rocker to a 'normal' drop clutch.
Then, if you just use the standard drop clutch from any of the big guys, once the hat is dropped, nothing stops it spinning as you play, which makes it useless as the surface turns away from you.
Rasoo developed a part that attaches to normal drop clutches that solves the rotation issue.
I have one. It works flawlessly.
Seen here, the tall chrome steel section with locknut beneath it:

He might have one or two left if you PM him.
You'll still need a commercial drop clutch (we tested Gibraltar, DW, Pearl and Dixon and all worked).
But this is the only way, anywhere, you can get it to work.

Why not stay electronic and attach a foot switch to your module? IMHO a much better solution than trying to solve electronic challenges with mechanics.

i tried a drop clutch when i first got my td 20 kit and id have to say i didn't like it, but that depends on what you're looking for. not near enough slosh, the tama cobra clutch is adjustable to get the right amount of slosh to ones specific taste.

    Foot switches:
I have a double bass, hi-hat, 2 foot switches currently-1 for td-30, and the other is for my Octopad. Adding another foot switch for the drop HH I'm not sure there is enough real estate for it to be located near my foot under my set.
If I decided to go that route - do you have a link?

Can these be used on a DW remote?

Hmmm...what about just under the legs on the pedal?

thats what i was thinking, as you can see in the picture the cobra clutch, the clamp can adjust up and down quite a bit.
other that that it should work and if it does it will provide more stability as well. i tell you what, i really am impressed with it, ive had it for 6 years and is rock solid and once you have it set up it is very consistent. hopefully someone will chime in that has tried it with a remote hat.

Or you could mount a footswitch control as a hand control on the kit somewhere - I used a cheap (4.99) 2 way momentary action footswitch, gutted it and inserted into a component box.

This was originally mounted on the side of the snare when I used a snare stand, I am in process of changing that, so for time being, it sits on top of the Hi Hat.

Push the button to open/close the hats - the other switch (red button) I use for xstick on/off
