    rototom

    Hey guys n gals
I have been reading a lot and trying to figure out what is the best solution for my DIY drums (will do a dedicated thread when I start the build, have to wait for a friend to let me test my laptop for latency with his drum kit+alesis i/o + VST).
What about rototoms? They are compact, light, and even have a place to secure the foam cone trigger! Has anyone tried them out? They would be perfect for my toms (only need single zone)

    Am I missing something?

There are people using rototoms, like WildWes. In my opinion, his kit looks just beautiful!
Here you can see it, as well as some other great looking DIY kits ...

    WildWes kit is absolutely stunning!
Of course, lots of kits in there are beautiful, but since this is a dedicated rototoms thread....

    My lastest kit has 2-10", 2-12" and 2-14" e-rototoms.

The 12" and 14" rototoms required a wooden riser for the quartz triggers to reach the mesh.

The 10" rototoms were too swallow for the quartz triggers, so I cut the foam down.

How I attached the jack to the 10" rototom bottom rims.

How I clamp the rototoms to the rack tubes.

    Clamping rod.
    TD-20exp module * VH-12 hh * Gibraltar hh stand * 4 Hart Hammers * 2-22" kicks w/Pintech triggers & Blastech mesh * 1-14" snare w/Pintech triggers & Hart mesh *2-10", 2-12" & 2-14" roto toms w/Quartz triggers & Hart mesh * 7 PCY-150 cymbals

Here's my humble contribution. Very simple compared to WildWes's masterpiece. But it was pretty easy to do, and I'm real satisfied with the results. Give it a try.

Hey Wes, your latest pic indicates a decided lack of Yamaha PCY-10s. I seem to remember you promising that you'd sell them to me...

oh please oh please oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeease.....

I knew when I posted my updated kit photo, you'd notice the absence of my remaining 3 PCY-10's. I seem to recall that I would give you first opportunity Jim, if I ever decided to sell them. Still haven't decided yet, but I do need to either use them or move them.

Hard to believe over the years I've owned up to 8 of these expensive, little, hard to find rubber cymbals.

It's not called teasing (maybe a little) Jim. Just prepping you for the big "cha-ching" moment.

Might be hard to find a 6" mesh head. I read 682drums makes a 6" mesh, but I've never tried it. You could always diy. WW

Hey, hey, hey! I resemble that remark.

Just to show how handy these little cymbals can be, here's a PCY-10 attached to the hi-hat clutch. WW

are these cymbals single zone? Chokeable?

Single-zone and not chokeable, but there's not much to choke. Here's one next to an 8" Kittoys splash. WW
