Lighter beaters using Air Blaster Foam Balls from Walmart. I was kind of tired of the sound coming from the felt beaters hitting my KD-8 kick. I was hoping to make lighters beaters from tennis balls but they are too big for my double kick pedal. So I used foam balls that I originally bought to make trigger cones.
Air Blasters Foam Balls from Walmart:
As you can see, the foam balls are a bit smaller than regular felt beaters:
I drilled a hole in the foam ball and trimmed the top and bottom of the ball so that its about the same height as my felt beater:
I placed the foam ball on the beater shaft:
Et voila, light weight foam balls beaters!

Cool. How firm are these....soft(nerf).....med(quartz cones)...firm(tennis ball)?

I'd say they are as firm as tennis balls, but they're very light...
