    Question TD15 Add-ons?

    Hi,

Is there a way to add more pads and cymbals to the
TD15KV other than the two additional outputs provided
    (CRASH 2 and AUX)????

    No.
Unless you split the inputs with the TD-9 variations at www.drumsplitters.com
No MIDI in is why a bunch of us here will not be buying TD-15s.

Wow! Sounds like Roland shot themselves in the foot by not having a midi in. Count me out of buying that too!

you can daisy chain a second module, like a td11 and have it feed through the mix in input.

I am not buying because of the midi in fiasco.

Counts me out as well....what the hell were they thinking? & how hard would it be for them to COSM/Supernatural edit some great sounding stock kits? They are the experts/innovators after all

    Hi Guys..

Im really close to buying a TD15.. probs within a week. I have a TD9 but really unhappy with the response and feel of the snare on my Jobeky stealth snare.. played snare on my old PD100 to see if was the snare drum and got the same lack of feel.. Bit disapointed because I got my old TD12 which was brilliant for ghost notes.

Im not so much bothered by no midi IN.. ! I dont want or need 20 extra drums.. I just want good response and speed that the behaviour modelling and supernatural technology promise.. My feeling is that the TD15 is an way improved TD9..

??? yes/no ?? any one with experience of both ??

    Thank you

    Kev

Big time. One of their more curious moves IMO. And IMO no way the 15 is worth a swap from the upgraded 9.
Roland found yet another way to make more $$$$$$$$$$$$ in a lowly way.

I'd like to give a round of applause to ROLAND...

They've done a fantastic job in their R&D of their new TD15.

No midi in the module... c'mon give us a break.

And the best part is you can't get your hands on a TD-30 module (on it's own) in AUS yet even if you wanted it - so I'm sticking with my TD12 + TD4

    Hi,

I have a TD15 and you can work with the USB as midi in. It works prefectly with Logic.
I record my midi track from the TD15 with the midi out, correct it and then trigger the TD15 trough the usb.
    No problem :-)

    I replaced my TD-9 with a TD-15.

I'd been thinking about connecting the MIDI out from a TD-4 that I have lying around to the TD-9's MIDI in, but never got around to it. I also tried to connect a 5th cymbal to my kit but I was having a difficult time getting the splitter to work (I have one on the AUX input that works fine) and I realized I'm going overboard. I've got the snare, 4 toms, two crashes (each with different cymbal sounds on the bow and edge), a ride and a splash - that's enough. Rather than worry about adding more things to hit, I thought I should worry about getting better at hitting the things I have.

So no, I don't miss the MIDI In - at all. That being said, I can see that the loss of that functionality would be a deal-breaker for those that want it. I can't help but wonder if Roland didn't make the decision based on feed back from users - maybe the majority just don't care about MIDI at all!.
Acoustic: FrankenKit - Late '60s Slingerland Kit, Ludwig snare and floor tom, add-on Pearl toms, Zildjian, Sabian and Paiste cymbals. DW5000 double pedal.
    Electric: Roland TD-15 with TD-3 pad set with additional PD-8, CY-5, CY-8 and CY-12R/C.

but you cannot trigger a second module through the td15, like you can with the 9, which is what we were talking about.

splitters from drumsplitters.com won't work to split cymbal inputs. (despite what the website says). Raper circuits are needed for that.

I think Roland just decided to make those of us with multiple modules buy td30s instead.
