Yes.. I'd like the vex team to devise something for the Yamaha module.
I'm sure there are a few other's that would love you boys for that if you did...
So..?? Whatcha think fellas..?

We know. We get the emails. We think about it from time to time. Then, we check out wallets. Wanna send me your kit?![]()

I'm not meaning to be ugly/mean with this comment..but why not learn the module and all of its features/capabilities yourself.....that's what I've been doing since switching to the III module a little over six months ago...and I've gotta say I've had more fun with this module than any of my previous modules...and I attribute much of that to the learning experience....just my 2 cents worth
...also even when I had vex I still changed up things on those kits
I'm not meaning to be ugly/mean with this comment either...
I'm pretty sure that it's a problem of finanaces. Alan doesn't want to have to buy a Yahama module at this point. That's why he asked if e1r would send his.
I have an idea...You buy a TD-20 module and the VEX packs you like. Then, sample the VEX kits into your Yamaha module.
No offense meant... just having a bit of fun at your expense.![]()
VDrums: a cluster of bits including TDW-20 and TD-3 modules, KD-85, PD-85(2), PD-8(5), CY-12(3), CY-8(2), CY-5(3), Kit Toys china, all on an MDS-6SL+ rack, SPD-S, VEX, VDL
ZDrums: a Zendrum ZCSZX
ADrums: an eight piece Tama Rockstar kit with lots o' Zildjians
Gender-Conflicted Drums: a stock PDP Chameleon with a few Zildjians (a conversion just waiting to happen... then it can go both ways!)
Actually..my comments weren't directed at Alan, but rather the individual owners of any module...if you spend the money on a piece of a gear like the III or the 12/20 for that matter...you really should also the spend the time and learn the capabilities of the module (IMO, you do yourself a disservice by not learning it)...and not rely on someone else to do it for you....not a knock on vex or anyone who has purchased them (as I have in the past)....but as I wrote earlier...I am having more fun with this module (III) than previous ones and I believe that is because I have had to really dig in and learn the inner workings of the III.....

I knew what he meant.![]()
Likewise, though I wasn't sure at first.
I would respond that its probably the Yamaha modules that could benefit most from experienced professional programers. I used to have one and the interface was very difficult, to the point that I really didn't do any of the number of really cool things I could have done with it. I'm sure recent models have improved, but I doubt they have the ease of use that the Roland modules do.
It's like writing apps for the computer. Roland rules the edrum world like Microsoft rules the computer OS world. While there are competitors, they don't have the market share, so writing apps for them is not as potentially profitable. As Alan alluded to, the VEX programmers have limited funds (as well as limited space and time), so Yamaha owners are left out in the cold.
I’d rather be told the ugly truth than handed a pretty lie.
I've got a Dtxtreme IIs and I'd really like a Vex pack for it - it's such a difficult module to use! I do like it though, I've had loads of Roland kits including TD-20 & TD-9, & I bought Vex packs for both of them. The Yamaha does sound natural, but a bit 'flat', and editing it is a bit like debugging Linux...
btw does anyone have any custom Dtxtreme IIs kit files to trade?
J.
Sorry Scorch... guess I misinterpreted your comment.
I agree, we should all know our modules better and fully utilize their potential. I just like the time saving convenience of the VEX kits.
I still do some tweaking on some of the VEX kits and on my own personal kits, though.

Hey scorch.
I know Alviswesley (at DTXperience) was doing samples with his DTXtreme II prior to upgrading to the III. If anyone has a II over here they might contact him about sharing some of his kits (if he saved them).
PS: Very nice module Scott. Someone must have been an idiot to sell that to you
. Bet he's probably playing a Roland now
. Oh well, take good care of it

Done that and it worked out pretty well, can we send them out free to every Yamaha user?

To me honestly I don't if VEX does it, maybe another company who makes kits for the 3?
To be 100% honest with you (and myself)..
I just don't find much enjoyment in tweaking a module for hours. Some people love it...it's just not my preference.. Hence my questions about Vex doing something.
I'd prefer to have an out of box solution or 3rd party solution (Like VEX) I can just sit down and play without having to know every single tweak etc. I'm much more of a "sit down and play" sort of guy than a "find the exact proper balance of this settings to get this one drum to sound the way I want it to sound". Then start on the next one.
That's just not my bag...that's why I love VEX! They have it set nearly perfect for whatever sound I like..and all I needed to do was upload to my module.
