    EZdrummer help...

..Ok, I finally took the plunge and installed EZdrummer

    easy enough, blah blah

but the problem comes when I try to run it, I open reaper (software I use for recording) and open the VSTi menu, load ezdrummer.

the window pops up, I see the standard 5 piece view thingy, and BAM it crashes

    what the hell?

    any ideas anybody?

Best if you also ask Toontrack reps about this. How much RAM do you have? Have you tried un/reinstalling it?

I'm not sure how much ram I have, but it's a fairly new computer (7 months old) and it manages to run vista without exploding, so it's healthy :P

It works now anyway, it just used to hang up on the authorization process bit, but I just tried again after restarting my computer and it works

USB/Midi interface is on the way, so hopefully I'm almost all set to make sweet noise :P

    thanks for the help

Knowing the computer specs is crucial .. although EZ seems not to take much RAM .

Right click "My Computer", scroll down to "Properties". The "general" tab will show you your RAM and Processor speed.

    Good luck.

Ok, I finally got Ezdrummer running through reaper

and my MIDI/USB interface arrived today

    now a new problem arises....

...I cant get MIDI in when using EZdrummer as a VST through reaper,

somebody said to run it through toontrack solo, so I did

downloaded toontrack solo and it says "failed to load audio driver"

why all this crap just to run a god damn VST?

a friend linked me to that, EZdrummer worked without it, but yer...

anyway, I FINALLY got ezdrummer working today

I realised that it's pretty crap.
    cymbal swells don't work right

I guess that means i've gotta now go through all my settings and basically screw my kit up just to get EZdrummer working.

Nice observation...re-affirmation that I should only give help and advice on the toontrack forum

I doubt there is a drum map for ezdrummer .. since the notes are fixed .. the only way is changing the notes in your module.

Do not forget to download their latest version of the software as well.

sorry, no idea what drum map actually means, lol

I just meant a diagram which shows which notes are assigned to which drum, I know they are some drums with multiple sounds, like snare which has rolls also

but if anybody has made one, I would be really grateful

if not, I'm gonna have a go at doing it

You can find the drum MIDI map by clicking the little '?' in the upper right corner. Don't bother relocating MIDI notes in your module, you just don't want to do that, trust me.

Use EDrum MIDI Mapper(30-day free trial) or Edrum Monitor(free) to map your notes, the MIDI mapper will give you more extensive note control for your hi-hat so I recommend that. I only found out about this from Relayer after spending all that time changing the notes in my module...

Hopefully you already know all this stuff so forgive me if I pass on this info.

If you have enough CPU guts and RAM then it is a compatability issue or a resource issue.
If you surf the web with that machine you need to make sure you are Spyware free.

Always do a backup first....then proceed

If your computer takes forever to boot you probably need to take a bunch of stuff out of Startup. Assuming you have XP PRO with service pack2. If you don't have service pack2 then install it.Ok back to Startup.
Just go Start-then Run-then type msconfig

This will open another screen. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck anything that doesn't really need to be running in the background. These are using resources that could be used for what you are needing them for.

If you aren't sure if you should not turn off then don't. Hopefully you will be able to discover what items to leave checked and which to uncheck. This will not uninstall anything it just takes them out of startup. After you have uncheck the items you don't want running hit apply and ok then reboot your pc and there will be a box that will come up with a small check box in the bottom left corner after you log in to windows. When you see this check that box and the changes you made will be SET.

Only do this if you have backed up your data and have all disks for restore.

You may also want to run chkdsk
    START-RUN- then type cmd
Dos screen will open then type >chkdsk /f
Then answer with Y and enter key
You will need to reboot. This process will run when the PC starts the reboot process. It sometimes can take a while. If your hard drive has problems this can fix it. Please use at your own risk but it does help many times.

    Vuser
